"One Book, One College" hosts April 4th and 5th visit by acclaimed author, Wes Moore
Join the "One Book, One College" team and Phi Theta Kappa in welcoming Wes Moore, author of "The Other Wes Moore", a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller. The story follows Moore's challenging and inspiring childhood, and rise to adulthood, as well the story of another man named Wes Moore. Both men are the same age, and from the same neighborhood, yet took completely different paths in life. The author Wes Moore will be speaking about his book, as well as his experience as an Army veteran, a White house Fellow to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, a Phi Theta Kappa (1998) and Phi Beta Kappa (2001) graduate, and his work as a youth advocate. Mr. Moore also became a Rhodes Scholar while studying at Oxford University. Currently, Wes Moore is the host of Beyond Belief, a show on the Oprah Winfrey Network. The show follows inspiring, miraculous, unbelievable, yet true stories from around the world. Wes Moore is constantly committed to helping the parents, teachers, mentors, and advocates who serve youth in need. A portion of all book proceeds for "The Other Wes Moore" are being donated to City Year (An education focused, nonprofit organization that unites young people of all backgrounds for a year of full-time service to keep students in school and on track to graduation) and the US Dream Academy (a program that benefits at-risk young through academic, social, and values enrichment).
The presentation will be heard at the Anna P. Buckley Performing Arts Center at the Brockton Massasoit campus, April 4th at 6:30pm. Tickets are free through the Massasoit box office, as well as through the Student Life office. Massasoit is asking for a donation of a non-perishable food item on the night of the presentation.
