Yoko holds BA in Sociology from Rikkyo University in Tokyo, and Master of Environment, Science and Society from University of Essex in England.

She taught Japanese Language and Japanese Brush Writing at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith from 2009 - 2012. During the time, she was a part of Japan Foundation's "Japan Outreach Initiative" and served the community as a "Cultural Ambassador" introducing Japanese language and culture
